Hardware Requirements

Printing
You will need a printer to print a copy of the confirmation letter you will receive when your EIN is assigned. If you do not have a printer, we recommend you save an electronic copy of your confirmation letter to your local hard drive or other removable storage device so you can print it at a later time.

Browser Requirements

128-bit Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) Encryption
The EIN Assistant Application will work with any browser that supports 128-bit SSL encryption. To verify that you have 128-bit SSL capable browser, follow these instructions if you have Internet Explorer or Netscape Navigator. For all other browser types, please search the Internet for "how to verify browser encryption" for your web browser.
    Internet Explorer Instructions
    1. Choose "Help" from the pull-down menus at the top of Internet Explorer.
    2. Choose "About Internet Explorer."
    3. If the small type in the center of the screen reads, "Cipher Strength: 128-bit supported," you have the required browser.

    Netscape Navigator Instructions
    1. Choose "Help" from the pull-down menus at the top of Netscape Navigator.
    2. Choose "About Navigator" or "About Netscape."
    3. If the small type in the center of the screen reads, "Cipher Strength: 128-bit supported," you have the required browser.

Netscape 7.0
Some users have experienced problems using Netscape 7.0 to access this site. We recommend you upgrade your browser to a later version of Netscape (7.0.1 or higher) to avoid this problem. For help upgrading, refer to Netscape support.

Using PDF files with Internet Explorer 6.0
Some users have experienced problems downloading and/or displaying PDF files from secure sites using Microsoft Internet Explorer 6.0. Until Microsoft issues another Service Pack release, the company has provided a patch for its browser. Refer to Microsoft Support for more information on this issue and its resolution.
